Dorathea Lange was a depression era documentation photographer/ photojournalist who documented the hardships of the Depression like many other photojournalists of the time. She did lots of portraits of the Americans affected by the economy and you can see the emotions within these pictures.
This is a really famous photograph that I have seen before. It is very powerful emotionally and the composition of the image is also good. I like the children on either side of her and I feel as though they add to the image and make it tell a much deeper story.
