Gertrude Kasebier

Gertrude Kasebier was a photographer in the early 20th century who did some interesting portraits mostly of Native Americans but also portraits of regular Americans too.

This portrait of Evelyn Nesbit is one of Kasebier's most famous photographs. I really like the composition of this image. The picture is clear and you can see the details of her face so clearly. The hair over her shoulder on the right has an interesting shape and adds something  interesting to that part of the image.

I would like this image a lot more if it weren't so grainy. I like how the face is only partially exposed and the body and hear are all covered up- it draws attention to the portion of the face that is exposed.

This image is of John Murray Anderson. I like how the the light is coming from in the window and how that light is the only bright portion of the image. It makes the figure stand out.
