This image is from the first 70 set of photos that could be on any topic. I like the darkness and high contrast of the photo and how the red carpet draws your eyes towards the door.
Be careful with color. It is a powerful devil. It can overwhelm your image. The location of the color and the amount of color in this image overpowers the beauty of the black and white image. If the color was toned down a lot, but still red, it would do what you would like without being so dominate you cannot see anything else.
I do, however love your perspective. And that you are allowing for darkness.
