Walker Evans

Walker Evans was a photographer during the Great Depression in America. Some of his work documented the hardships and effects of the depression. He has a lot of black and white portraits of Americans and American families during this time. 

This photo seems to be one of Walker's most famous photos. I like the way her expression tells a story. The way that she's holding her lip and squinting her eyes make her seem mad, or on the verge of tears.








 This picture shows the effects of the great depression, which is what Evans was trying to do. This building was a store that most likely thrived before the depression but now lies with one car in front.




This portrait is interesting because the family members aren't smiling like in most pictures like this. You can tell that their lives aren't "picture perfect", and even the picture isn't perfect. It shows their true emotions.
