Imogen Cunningham

Imogen Cunningham has so very appealing photographs of interesting, unique subjects. Her photographs of flowers and plant life are not the stereotypical high color, soft images. It's a new take on how flowers look.
The image on the top left if my favorite image by Imogen. I like how close up it is and how you can see all of the details in the center of the flower, and how they curl out in little spirals.
The image to the left is simple and black and white, which I really like. I can see that someone my think it lacks excitement, but I think that's why I like it. To the right, I like how the flower is so white and the background is so black. The contrast between the two adds so much to the image.
Her work with flowers is quite amazing and I wish that I could create images like these ones.

This photo to the left is so interesting. It is confusing to the eye and so strange to look at. The image has repetition but each layer is also different. This image is so exciting and I would love to try something like this, although I don't know how I would go about it.

  1. The image is a series of exposures on film, easy to do with a film camera, I am not sure how you can do it with a digital, it's something we can research. I'm sure there must be a way.
