Heart

This is one of the pictures that I took for my first 70 photos this week. I really like the idea of having one aspect of an image be a color and the rest be black and white because it draws your eye to the colored element.

  1. Often this-- leaving one area in color-- is overdone and trite. But your image here is thoughtful and strong. It communicates a delicate message-- possibly love among the ruins. Your composition is strong as well. The black emptiness of the container pulls your eye forward, and the red of the heart in the line of the rule of thirds drags your eye to the heart. The visual line between empty and full is powerful. Good job.

  2. I really like this picture Alix! And I like that the heart isn't a perfect heart, and also the angle you captured it at is gorg!
